How to choose the right coffee blend

Start with your brewing method, then define what strong or light means to you: heavier texture, more bitterness or a different aroma. Try a small quantity with consistent measurements. No blend is best for every drinker.

Turn “good coffee” into something you can compare

Two people may enjoy the same cup for different reasons: one likes cardamom aroma, another its texture. Asking only for strong coffee could lead to a darker roast when you meant more coffee in the same amount of water. Describe a cup you enjoy and one you do not, then identify the difference.

Separate what you notice from whether you like it. The Specialty Coffee Association's assessment approach distinguishes sensory description from personal impressions of quality. At home, you do not need professional scores: write down an observation, then decide whether it suits you.

Six useful words for describing your cup

These describe your experience; they are not tasting notes assigned to every blend. Familiar language is more useful than elaborate comparisons you do not recognise.

Make your preference easier to explain
TermWhat it describesAsk yourself
BodyThe texture and weight felt in the mouthDo I prefer a lighter or fuller mouthfeel?
BitternessA taste distinct from aroma and concentrationIs it enjoyable or does it dominate?
AromaWhat you smell from coffee and additionsDo I want coffee alone or cardamom too?
Sensory acidityA tasting impression, not a laboratory result for your productDo I enjoy this impression or prefer less of it?
Roast characterThe flavour direction you associate with roastingDo I prefer familiar balance or a darker roast?
ConcentrationThe experience shaped by dose, water and preparationShould I adjust the recipe before changing the blend?

A decision table before buying another blend

Not every disappointing result calls for new coffee. If you like the aroma but find the cup too heavy, try changing the dose. Choosing a plain package to avoid cardamom answers a different question.

Roast colour cannot answer every question

Research published by the Specialty Coffee Association shows that roast changes can affect perceived bitterness, acidity and body in several ways. That supports a structured tasting comparison, not fixed sensory scores for untested blends.

This guide does not rank blends by caffeine or disclose bean percentages. It does not assign unpublished fruity or chocolate notes. Dark indicates the approved roast direction in that product's description; your own trial determines whether you enjoy it.

Where Alagnaf's four blends fit

Alagnaf Coffee is a brand of ALAGNAF ALHADITHA CO. The following table uses only the range's approved descriptions. Treat it as a starting point after identifying your preferences, and confirm the grind separately for your equipment.

Run a small comparison that helps you decide

Choose just two blends. Prepare each with the same method and measurements and use similar cups. Record aroma, texture and aftertaste, then add one sentence: would I enjoy this every day? There is no need to choose a winner for everyone.

If household preferences differ, a small quantity of each option may be more useful than one compromise. Make your enquiry concrete: “Stovetop cezve, plain, and I prefer a balanced character,” or “Espresso machine; I need a suitable grind.”
